Anime 101
I was reading various message boards in which users had the audacity to claim that they knew the best Anime series ever. Now, I am not one to join in the fray with a topic like this....usually...but I thought that I must put in my two cents, just because i have seen a few anime shows.1.) Shows like Dragonball Z, Sailormoon, and Inayusha (however you say it) tend to tip the scale towards queerness. Why? Well one series has an abundant of males, the other has an abundant of females, and the other has people with tales, and that is just plain gay.
2.) Talking animals in anime does not make it weird. Do you think Christopher Robin freaked out when he heard his favorite Hundred Acre Woods friends talk? No....so it's not so out of the normal to have animals talking.
3.) Akira is not the best anime ever. Every site I go to have fanboys (and girls) who whine about how great Akira was and still is. Maybe it was one of the first animes, but it is not the best. So don't watch it, no matter how much fankids talk about it.
4.) Samurai or Space Cowboys are the best sort of characters in anime. Ninjas come in at a close second. So if you see an anime with flying super-heroes who sprout yellow locks whilist moaning in a queer sort of way, change the channel.
5.) And now my list of favorite anime titles. Call me an anime-freak, if you will, but it is the same as enjoying a nice glass of wine or a cuban cigar. Also, being an artist, you appreciate how those artists slave over cells (single paintings put together to make a movie) to give us art and entertainment at the same time.

Cowboy Bebop ~ The reason for this being number one is because it has every great thing an anime needs, and the showdown at the end of the series makes this one worth watching.

Studio Ghibli films ~ Most of the Studio Ghibli films that you will find have great stories that are enjoyable for the whole family.

So there you have it. It's my post on anime, so that you viewers won't get trapped in the crap of the anime titles that are littered on the road of animation (or something like that).

1. Queerness is a funny word to say. Is it gay because it's all guys and because it's all girls? Would that make it bisexual if it had both? This queer argument is used from people that have never really seen the whole show, who never really caught on with the show with everyone else, or who feels that their silly minority opinion should be viewed. Sailor Moon is a very good Anime. Dragon Ball Z is a very good anime. Do you want a love story in an anime? That is what is gay to most guys. Dragon Ball Z is almost nothing but fighting.
2. Agreed. Except your previous post makes you look inconsistent. If having tails is gay, then talking animals is gay. How can you have an open mind on one, but be intolerant of the other? Winnie the Poo is not an Anime. You should apologize to the entire world for even trying to make that comparison. And another point - I hear people always saying "That anime is so unrealistic". Well what the heck do you want from a cartoon? Get over it.
3. Akira was made in 1988. It is 17 years old. It was the breakthrough movie in anime like FF7 was the "breakthrough" on good graphics in RPGs. You should watch it though. It was aight.
4. I completely disagree. Too many animes follow the whole ninja/samurai crap. There are good series there, but I wouldn't limit myself to those types of characters alone. Spike and Vicious breathe in a queer sort of way in Cowboy Bebop. So you need to come up with a better argument than that. And on the whole yellow hair thing - if you can't use your imagination and it seems to unreal for you, then why do you watch any anime at all?
5. Cowboy Bebop is a good anime. There are many other good animes too. You can choose not to like some because of "queerness", but you are the one missing out. I have yet to watch an anime all the way through I have not liked. Anime-freak is not what comes to mind when you show me your show selections.
PEAPLE WHO LIKE DBZ ARE FLAMING HETROS
I must say, mike had some very powerful arguements about the anime here. at least the part about the inconsistencies of the tails and talking animals. crushing logic. way to duke it out.
I am sure that you would come up with a lot of webpage hits if you typed "Dragon Ball Z" and the word "GAY" in search engines. Probably more than "Paris Hilton" and "Jessica Simpson" combined.
Luke, why don't you just use your name instead of anonymous when you post. Kind of immature of you :)
